So, if you are keeping score at home, Famous Baby C started school largely without incident. She waded in, hesitant, but much more confident than her brother was when he started.
Grand Master H had a bit of a tougher time.
Their mother had the toughest time of all.
Grand Master H did not start until Wednesday and that was only a 90 minute orientation. I was with him the entire time, so that wasn't like the real deal.
Thursday was just a fiasco. Mr. Smith had far flung obligations, so I was left to take both children to school. It was the first day that I would drop both of them off and be on my own. Pretty much for the first time in about 6 1/2 years.
So off we went, the three of us, to drop Grand Master H at school. They line up on the playground behind the school. Once we got there, I just couldn't walk away. He seemed so little and the thought of leaving him there by himself (although the playground was teaming with his fellow students) filled me with panic.
That is my precious first born, third child back, rocking his mohawk proudly, but looking very sad and overwhelmed.
And then he stood up, grabbed his backpack and ran toward me. By the time he fell into my arms he was sobbing. I gently led him back to the line, sat him down and calmly explained that he had to stay and I had to leave. At this point he was hysterical, tears streaming, wailing and would not let go of me.
Thankfully, his teacher appeared out of nowhere and took over, told me (very quietly) to go ahead and leave. I grabbed Famous Baby C and got the hell out of there, and proceeded to sob like an infant the entire way home.
At this point, Famous Baby C is fine with school. She went four days last week and has it all dialed in, no muss, no fuss. That girl just astonishes me.
