They are just too young.
I always hated when Marlin Perkins would send Jim out to almost get eaten by some starving lion. I was severely traumatized by watching that stuff on Sunday evenings. Scary stuff.
Between that, 60 Minutes and Wonderful World of Disney, it is a wonder I can function at all.
